About the Author

Lori Alden Holuta lives between the cornfields of mid-Michigan, where she grows vegetables, teas, and herbs, when she’s not playing games with a cat named Chives. She’s fond of activities from the past, including canning and preserving, crocheting, and of course, reading everything she can get her mitts on.

Her lifelong fascination with the Victorian era dovetailed nicely with articles she wrote some years ago for The Primgraph, an online magazine which focused on historical reconstructions in virtual worlds, as well as music and book reviews for Steampunk Magazine.

Her first novel, The Flight To Brassbright, is endearing itself to young teenage girls and a surprising number of grown-ups. The sequel, Down The Tubes, seems to be in an eternal state of ‘nearly done’ but she’s going to surprise you when it publishes, possibly sooner than you think. Book three, The Hidden Doors is in a delightful state of disarray, and book four, Off The Rails, is in development.

A hopeless foodie, she also writes playful cookbooks (Steamed and Steamy, Shredding It). And being a child at heart forever, she published Full Steam Ahead: A Short Story Collection Where Kids Save the Day. Her newest venture spins her love of rhymes and wordplay into Parlor Poetry: A Victorian Versification Abecedary.
